Plum Concrete Flood Protection

Bendcrete Construction Services developed a tailored flood mitigation plan for Sarguz
village, located along the Yarkhun River which was repeatedly damaged by floods in 2015
and 2023. Erosion and debris flows have impacted agricultural land, irrigation channels,
transformers, and critical community infrastructure.
The design included two plum concrete walls placed at erosion-prone zones, providing
structural protection using locally sourced materials. Each wall was analyzed using
rigorous load combinations, including hydrostatic, wave, debris impact, and hydrodynamic
forces. Design stability was confirmed through finite element modeling using ETABS. This
intervention addressed high flood risk zones while incorporating community feedback and
labor, thereby improving long-term safety and supporting sustainable land use.
