Timber Structure Design for Paddy Lick Farm

Bendcrete Construction Services delivered the structural design and analysis of a timberframed building for Paddy Lick Farm in Virginia, USA. The structure was engineered in accordance with the National Design Specification (NDS) and American Wood Council
(AWC) standards for wood construction.
The structural design was developed using Tekla software, utilizing finite element modeling(FEM). Given the region’s environmental exposure, the primary hazard considered in thedesign was wind. A 3-second gust wind speed of 115 mph, as defined in ASCE 7-16, was
used to guide the structural resistance and detailing. This timber-based solution combines resilience, sustainability, and aesthetic harmony with
